DUFF Mania gripped Sydney yesterday when more than 1000 hysterical fans crammed into Myer's flagship store to catch a glimpse of Hilary Duff.
The star was there to launch her new fragrance, Wrapped With Love.
"I don't want to eat it, but it's very yummy,'' the pint-sized US pop star said, spruiking the perfume."
"It totally reminds me of summer time. It is very sweet.''
Mike Thebridge, 18, of Campbelltown, waited more than nine hours to meet the caramel-haired beauty.
He arrived at the department store at 6am, and said the wait had been "totally worth it".
"I've been a huge fan of Hilary for, like, seven years. It's kind of hard to explain.
"When you've been a fan of someone for that long and just respect what they do, it's cool to say thanks."
Other fans, many of them sobbing, brought gifts of flowers and chocolate for the singer. Some wore specially made "We Love Hilary" T-shirts.
At 20, Duff can boast of being an actor, a fashion designer and a singer who has sold more than 13 million albums. She also has her own doll.
Duff - best known for playing the blonde, pigtailed cutie in the Lizzie McGuire TV series and film - is touring in Australia to support her latest album, Dignity.
She played Acer Arena last night.
Last year, she dyed her hair dark and unashamedly sexed up her look, perhaps in an effort to shed her good-girl, teen-queen image.
"Your look changes, and you try new things," Duff said.
"It's not like a conscious change; I am changing. It's that time in my life right now."
